Fall Program Presentation: The Service and Legacy of Dr. Daniel Marshall

Waterbury's history includes many famous - and infamous - people and events. Our history is also full of less widely-known but just as extraordinary moments amidst the ordinary and everyday lives of Waterbury's citizens. It is these stories that truly weave the fabric of a community's history.

Our fall program presentation shares Dr. Daniel Marshall's lifetime of service to his community, his family, his country, and his students. Born in Waterbury, this WWII Marine and education professor rose from humble beginnings to earn combat medals, professional accolades, and professor emeritus status at Tufts University. Dr. Marshall passed away at the age of 91, and his ashes are interred in the old Waterbury Center Cemetery beside his beloved grandfather, Daniel A. Marshall.

The society is delighted to welcome Dr. Marshall's great-nieces, Amy Marshall-Carney, Susan Connolly, and Judy Long, who will give the presentation. All historical society programs are free, family friendly, and open to the public.
